“So, what exactly are you looking for?” Luka asked, bringing with him a stack of books I’d just piled into his waiting arms as he followed me back to a table at the back of the library.

Ever since the phantom encounter in my bedroom two nights ago, I’d found myself consumed by the mysterious power that had played a role in my pleasure. Not that I hadn’t enjoyed it, I fucking loved it. My issue was with the guilt that had plagued my mind ever since.

I didn’t know why I felt guilty. Perhaps it was survivor’s guilt, if you could even call it that. The fact that I was alive while Matthew and Kalen had been murdered was something I could never forget, even if I tried to.

And it had been him who I was imagining, the one I felt brushing his mouth over my body and whispering for me to come.

“I don’t know exactly,” I replied honestly, trailing a finger down the page of a book.

Luka grabbed it off the table, flipping it over to read the cover. “The Completed Records of Unexplained Phantom Phenomenons?” He raised an eyebrow at me, and I scowled. “Yeah, okay. Spill it.”

I reached for the book, but he raised it over his head. While I was tall for a woman, I couldn’t compete with his height. “Give it back!”

“Not until you tell me exactly what you need to know about ghost sex and why you need to know it,” he replied.

“Wait, who said anything about that?” I asked, panic rolling in.

“You just confirmed it. So spill it.”

Looking down at my hands for just a second, I rolled my eyes. “Look, I experienced… something the other night, and now I want to know if I’m losing my mind, okay?”

“You had ghost sex?”

“No!” I said, rippling the book from his grasp and slapping it against his chest. “Well, maybe…” I shook my head. “No, not sex, per se. I did have something happen, though, like someone had touched me and whispered things to me.”

His eyebrows shot up. “So, you were sexually harassed by a ghost?”

“No! It seemed to be a mutually beneficial experience,” I said, biting down on my lip. This was it. Maybe I truly was going crazy.

“Let me get this straight. You masturbated to a ghost? Or did a ghost masturbate you? Is that even the right way to say that? What’s the protocol here?”

“Gods, you’re the worst. Why did I ever decide to reconsider our friendship?” I slapped his chest again. This time, admittedly, might have been a bit harder than necessary, given the grimace on his face, but it was satisfying all the same.

Luka set the book down on the table and gripped both of my shoulders with his hands while leaning down into my face. “Probably because I’m the only person on your side, and everyone we know and love has lost their ever-loving mind and is evil now.” He tapped the tip of my nose with one of his fingers.
